Obituary

Roselio "Ross" Eladio Peralta took his last breath on the evening of December 27, 2025 surrounded by wife, family, and friends in their home in Huntsville, AL. He is now resting peacefully.

Ross was born on May 4th,1957 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to Jose Nicanor Peralta and Ernestina Bautista de Peralta. Ross later emigrated, in his teenage years, to Paterson, NJ where he would then marry his bride Maria Cabrera in 1978. Ross received his bachelor's degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in the field of Chemical Engineering. Ross would go on to have a long career as an engineer beginning his career at GTE Sylvania in Towanda, PA, then to Elmet Technologies in Lewiston, ME, and finally to conclude his career at Kennametal in Huntsville, AL. Ross officially retired after three decades as a Chemical Engineer with his wife in their home together in South Huntsville.

Ross was preceded in death by his parents, Jose N. and Ernestina Peralta.

Ross is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Maria. His children Mercedes Dumont (Jason) of Auburn, Maine, Johanna Ashley (Joseph) of Huntsville, Alabama, and Carlos Peralta (Kimber) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. His grandchildren Jaidon and Melania Dumont (Mercedes), Camila Ashley (Johanna), and Mariana and Adelina Peralta (Carlos). His siblings Rafael Bautista (Brunilda) of Miami, FL, Jose Peralta (Guillermina) of Paterson, NJ, and Irene Rivera (Gabriel) of Paterson, NJ along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Ross was a lifelong learner that always encouraged others the benefits of education. Ross loved working with his hands on automobiles, computers and around the house, solving his sudoku, and sharing his life and culture with loved ones. Ross never met a stranger and likewise loved to teach his native language and how to dance. Ross' life and story has brought encouragement and hope to all the lives he was able to touch with his passion and experience. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

We are also very grateful for all of the care and services from the Hospice Family Care team through Huntsville Hospital.
