Roy W. Brunson, 77, passed away at his home in Huntsville, AL on December 26, 2025. He was born March 27, 1948 in Grove Hill, AL and was raised in Chilton, AL. Roy was a graduate of Clarke County High School in Grove Hill, AL.  His career was spent in wood products.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years, Dawn S. Brunson; two children, Darryl Brunson (Veronica) and Bonnie Brunson Richburg (Jason); five grandchildren:Tyler (Ashley), Rivers (Quen), Claire (Jeremy), Jake, and Tucker; five great-grandchildren: Percy, Rawlins, Cooper, Eliot, and Dorothy; sister, Deborah Brunson Wilson; brother, Arvin Ray Brunson (Nell); brother-in-law, Willard Pugh; sister-in-law, Cecila Counselman; sister-in-law, Patricia Lamonte (Mike);  many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were like family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, A. L. and Lillian Pugh Brunson; brothers, James Brunson and Billy Brunson; and sister, Betty Jean Pugh.

Roy's greatest joys in life were his relationship with his Savior Jesus Christ and making memories with his beloved family. He and Dawn spent many years singing and testifying about the goodness and faithfulness of the LORD.  He was a faithful prayer warrior and encourager for his family, friends, and strangers. He was a man of joy, love, integrity, grace, and a little mischief. He enjoyed deer, turkey, and coon hunting for many years.  He was an avid Alabama football fan.

In 2007, Roy was diagnosed with end stage renal kidney disease. God provided a life saving kidney through JD Moore on January 18, 2010.  In August of 2019, Roy and Dawn relocated to Huntsville, AL.  In December of 2020, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.  The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Rock Steady/Parkinson's Dynamic which became a home away from home for Roy and Dawn.  The friendships, encouragement, and strength they found there meant more than words can express.

Services will be held at Tompkins Baptist Church in Grove Hill, AL on Friday, January 2, 2026. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 AM,  followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00.
