IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sami Deeb
Habchi
March 15, 1956 – February 28, 2026
Sami Deeb Habchi, 68, of Madison, Alabama, passed away February 28, 2026.
Sami was born to Deeb and Badiha Habchi, the sixth of ten children, on March 15, 1956, in Deir El Ahmar, Lebanon. He immigrated to America and studied at LSU, where he received his Master's in mechanical engineering. He met his wife, Nawal Habchi, in Baton Rouge; they were married on November 19, 1988, in Alabama, where they resided ever since. Sami and Nawal went on to have three children: Deeb (1991), Kristina (1992), and Hana (1998).
Sami Habchi joined CFD Research in 1987 and served for over 38 years. For the last 15 years of his career, Sami served as an Executive Vice President over the company's largest division. In addition to Sami's technical contributions, he was often regarded as the heart and soul of CFD Research—always willing to pitch in and help his colleagues, partners, and customers. Upon his retirement in 2025, The Heart and Soul Award was created in his honor.
Sami Habchi lived for his people. He embodied the phrase, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." He took time with people, providing them not only with advice, but with resources, connections, and support. When he wasn't working, you could find Sami taking care of his lawn, watching an LSU football game while simultaneously scrolling Tiger Bait, or grilling some of the best steaks you've ever had.
Sami is survived by his wife, Nawal Habchi; his three children, Deeb, Kristina (husband Nick Guarino), and Hana; and his grandchild, Ziad Habchi-Guarino; along with his three sisters and six brothers.
Sami will be dearly missed by a wide extended family and numerous loving friends. Although he was taken from us far too soon, we are grateful he is at peace and with God.
