Our father, Samuel Gene Davis Jr. passed away peacefully at the age of 84, on September 22, 2026. Sam was born the eldest of seven children in Greensboro, AL on April 5, 1942. In 1965, Sam graduated from Auburn Universiy with a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering. That same year he married the love of his life, Virginia Dale Jumper. They would go on to build a beautiful life together with their two children Susan and Michael. Sam worked for Boeing for over 30 years before retiring at the young age of 56. Sam spent his retirement years with Dale enjoying traveling and hiking in the US and Canada. Sam loved his family, God and the Auburn Tigers. Sam will be missed for his kindness, wisdom, generosity, sense of humor, and his passion for adventure.

Sam is proceeded in death by his loving wife Dale; his father, Samuel Gene Davis; his mother, Lucille Simpson Davis; and two sisters, Dorothy Davis Thomas, and Connie Davis Seale.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan Davis Myers (Cliff); his son Michael Davis; and grandson Nathan Sledd. He also leaves behind his siblings Judy Davis Coley, Joel Davis, Jim Davis, and Genie Davis-Eckstein, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family extends a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Hospice of North Alabama.
