IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharon Liles
Carter
October 15, 1957 – June 16, 2025
Sharon Liles Carter, O.D., 67, of Meridianville, AL passed away Monday, June 16, 2025. Sharon was born October 15, 1957, at La Chapelle St. Mesmin, in Loiret, France. She was the daughter of William Sanford Liles and Tommie Sue Liles (both deceased) of Guntersville, AL and the sister of William Scott Liles of Birmingham, AL.
In 1975, Sharon graduated from Guntersville High School, then went on to Floyd Junior College, receiving an Associate in Science in Nursing in 1980. Sharon worked in intensive care and open heart intensive care before deciding to further her education and become an optometrist.
She attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham, earning a Bachelor's of Science in Physiological Optics in 1984. She then went on to UAB School of Optometry, becoming a Doctor in Optometry. Sharon was also a member of the Omicron chapter of Omega Epsilon Phi at UAB. She was certified by the Alabama Board of Optometry in 1987.
Sharon took over the family business that her father started in 1980, Henegar Eye Clinic, in Henegar, AL. She spent 22 years in private practice before becoming the chief of Fox Army Health Center's optometry clinic in Huntsville, AL on Redstone Arsenal in 2013. She discovered that optometry was a profession that allowed her to make a difference in the lives of others, with time still leftover to be a mom to her two sons.
Sharon loved nothing more than to curl up with a good book, surrounded by her two beloved dogs, Bailey & Sophie. She was an avid animal lover and had three cats as well; Zoey, Brody, & Benny. Sharon had a dedicated craft room and loved to spend her free time scrapbooking and working on her dollhouse.
Remaining to cherish sweet Sharon's memory are her two sons, William Michael Carter & Bradford Gregory Carter; great-aunt Jean White McBride; brother, William Scott Liles; and niece, Dani McBride Rutledge.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 21st from 3:30-4:30 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home, with a memorial service immediately following.
