Sharon Ann
Thompson
August 10, 1946 – October 28, 2022
Elizabeth Sharon Ann Burch Thompson passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Vanderbilt Hospital on October 28, 2022. Sharon was born on August 10, 1946 in Greenville, AL to Ralph Barnard Burch and Pauline Holly Burch. Greenville is also where she met the love of her life when he jumped into her cousin's convertible on Main Street and wouldn't get out. Sharon married Thomas Earl Thompson on July 12, 1964. They were married for 58 years and raised two children.
Sharon led an active life both professionally and personally. She held several jobs. Most notably, she worked as a Revlon Cosmetics rep at the PX on Redstone Arsenal. She loved using her artistic talents in providing makeovers for women. Another position she was very proud to hold was providing support in the Security Division of Intergraph. She and Tom enjoyed traveling in their retirement years. They traveled to most every state in the continental United States plus Alaska and parts of Canada in their motor home with their beloved pets. During these travels, they made many fond memories and met many people who became lifelong friends.
Sharon had many other interests in her life. She was an accomplished artist, and gifted many of her paintings to family and friends. She also loved to sing. In her early adult years, she was a member of a gospel music trio that traveled throughout North Alabama and parts of Tennessee singing in churches. She was also active in her local church choirs. She loved animals like no other person we have ever known. Her compassion and empathy for God's creatures was unmatched. Something that she loved more than painting, singing, and animals was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the light of her life.
What Sharon cherished more than anything in this world was her relationship with Jesus Christ. She spent hours studying her Bible, participating in Bible Studies and living out her faith. Her legacy will be felt by her family for generations.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Pauline Burch and her son David Thompson. She is survived by her husband Tom Thompson, a daughter Missy (Doug) Young, grandchildren; Jacob (Rachel) Young, Anna (Todd) Russell, Jason Young, Justin Thompson and Tabitha Thompson, and great grandchildren Grayson Spangler, Wyatt Young, Morgan Young, Jensen Thompson and soon to be Evelyn Ruth Russell. She is also survived by a host of friends and friends that she considered family.
Services will be held Wednesday November 2, 2022 at Berryhill Funeral Home in Huntsville. Visitation with the family is from 11 am to 1 pm with services immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Sharon left a little glitter everywhere she went and will be greatly missed by many.
