Obituary

Shery Rainbolt kicked the bucket, as she would say, on May 22, 2025. Knowing her, passing away on 5.22.25 has some deeper meaning in numerology. Born in Miles City, MT, Sherry was the middle child and oldest daughter who marched to the beat of her own drum, which makes much more sense if you know she didn't have any rhythm.

The Rainbolts moved around a lot and eventually landed in Nebraska, where she earned her cosmetology and barbering licenses, a trade she would proudly practice for the rest of her life. But even more than her profession, she was most passionate about being a mom.

As a dedicated single mother of five, raising her children was her life's work and what she would call her biggest accomplishment. "Momma Rain" was their biggest supporter, fierce protector, safe space, on-demand baker, personal hairstylist and their go-to guru for advice (even if they didn't take it). Through her intuitive nature, she encouraged each of her kids to be themselves and pursue their unique dreams while ensuring they all remained close--one of the greatest gifts she could leave with them.

While she was very serious about being a mom, she was pretty unserious about almost everything else. She loved to laugh so much (especially at her own jokes) that her cackle can still be heard today. When she wasn't giggling every time she saw the number 69 and making the same dirty jokes a 12-year-old boy would make, she was sharing her childhood dream of becoming a Harlem Globetrotter—short and white with no coordination be damned.

She loved the color pink, putting way too much ice in her drink, dressing up for Halloween, hiding gifts so well even she forgot where they were, listening to 60s soul while singing "along," using her kitchen gadgets, cross-stitching challenging pieces, adding a mountain of whipped cream to every dessert, and chatting for hours with her close friends and family. She hated birds, sad movie endings, commercials being louder than the show, Karen Paige in the Daredevil series, the sound of chewing and following any rules.

Sherry was surrounded by family when she passed away. She was no doubt welcomed to the other side by her parents John and Laura Rainbolt and "adoptive" parents Dick and Dee Miller, along with the ancestors who left this earthly realm before her.

She leaves behind her four siblings, including her brother Rich Rainbolt and his husband Chris Dibble, who she loved "more than words can articulate"; her five children, Kristopher (41), Jessica (39), Nickolaus (36) and his wife Breann, their son Ambrose, and their soon-to-arrive daughter Nova, Samantha (32) and Alexander (21); along with countless friends who became family. All of us miss her deeply.

To our beloved sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, we will find you in every lifetime—and that's a threat!
