IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Marie
Boutte
August 27, 1936 – February 6, 2026
Shirley Marie Boutte (Stevenson), age 89, passed away peacefully on February 06, 2026, in Huntsville, Alabama. Born on August 27, 1936, in Pennsylvania, Shirley lived a life marked by compassion, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
In 1958, Shirley earned her registered nursing degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She went on to serve as a nurse for an extraordinary 63 years - a testament to her enduring commitment to the care and well-being of others. Her long career reflected not only professional excellence but also the deep empathy and kindness defined her.
Shirley was a woman of strong Christian faith. She loved her church dearly and was baptized into Jesus on Easter Sunday - a moment that held profound meaning for her. Her devotion extended beyond worship services; she found joy and fellowship in her Bible study group, where she nurtured both spiritual growth and lasting friendships.
Outside her professional and spiritual life, Shirley found happiness in simple pleasures and meaningful connections. She was an active member of her garden club and cherished the camaraderie of her bunco group. Whether tending to flowers or rolling dice with friends, she brought warm and laughter.
Shirley's love for her family was boundless. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Marie Boutte and Dawn Boutte Brown (husband, Kevin Custer Brown); sister, Dolores Yearick; grandchildren, Clinton Custer Brown (wife, Emily), and Morgan Elizabeth Prinsloo (husband, Sheldon); as well as two great-grandsons whom she adored with all her heart, Rhodes Johnson Brown and Elijah Daniel Prinsloo. She also left behind her nieces, Cathy Green, Tammy Frye Wetterau, and Beth Bechal; and nephew, Steven Wade Yearick.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph R. Boutte; parents, Hogue and Betty Stevenson; and sister, Virginia Stevenson Frye.
Those who knew Shirley remember her radiant smile, gentle spirit, and the caring way she touched lives across generations. Her presence brought comfort to many - young and old alike - her legacy will continue through the lives of those she loved so deeply.
May Shirley Marie Boutte's memory be a blessing to all who had the privilege of knowing her. A visitation will be held on February 13, 2026 from 12:00-2:00 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home, with a funeral service immediately following. Burial will take place at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
