It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Jean Jones Robinson, who passed away on July 17, 2026, at the age of 76.
Born on February 13, 1950, in Marion Junction, AL, Shirley lived a life painted with love, resilience, and devotion to her family. Shirley grew up in Selma, AL, during the height of the Civil Rights movement, where she was an active participant, and attended Hazen - Harrell High School, Class of 1968. She found joy in simple moments; treasured time spent with those she loved and touched the lives of many through her kindness and sense of humor.
She is survived by her three daughters: Cynthia Ward (Henry), Yvette Robinson(Demarcus), and Angela Robinson (Raymond); one grandson, Henry Ward III; one granddaughter, Quincy Robinson; bonus grandson Jaden Robinson; sisters: Liza Jones, Patricia Purdie, Gwendolyn Payne, and Mary Palmer; brother Tyler Jones III; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Jerridean and Virginia; son, Fredrick; father, Tyler Jones Jr.; mother, Mary Eliza Jones; two sisters, Margaret Jones and Fran Chestnut; nephew Tyler Jerod Jones; and granddaughter, Destini A’riana Robinson.
Her family will remember her for her unconditional love, unwavering support of family, quirky sense of humor, love of country music, and her computer games. The love and memories she created will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will take place, and no public services will be held at this time.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered support, prayers, and kindness during her illness. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. In lieu of flowers in honor of Shirley's life and memory, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to organizations dedicated to advancing research, supporting patients and families, and improving care for those affected by lung cancer, lung disease, kidney disease, and other serious illnesses.
