Stephen Ray Yerby LTC (Ret.) passed peacefully at home on April 7, 2025 in Meridianville, AL with family all around him.  He was born in Dallas, Texas on October 24, 1952 to Marion L. and Ada Blanche Holbert Yerby.

He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas and was a proud Razorback.  Upon graduation from the university he was commissioned into the US Army.  His first assignment took him to Berlin in the Berlin Brigade, where he would meet his wife of 49 years Paula.  They married in Berlin and began a 20 year career in the army.  Steve retired in 1994 and he and Paula started Ameri-Tech International, Inc. spring of 1996.

Fun loving and quick witted, he was loved by all that knew him.  He had a love for his family, hunting and telling stories.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Frank Yerby and Jerry Yerby.

Steve is survived by his wife Paula Neely Yerby, sons Nicholas Yerby, Travis Yerby, daughter Amanda Yerby Zimmerman (Bryan).  Grandchildren, Briley Zimmerman, McKenzie Yerby, Bryce Zimmerman, Brady Yerby, Meredith Yerby, Brody Zimmerman, Robert Yerby and Rachael Yerby. Brother Jack Yerby, sister Cindy Hargis (Ron), sister-in-law Lisa Yerby and many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to all who loved him so much at Tut Fann Veterans Home.  Donations can be made to Church of the Highlands or Wounded Warriors.

Visitation will be Sunday April 13, 2025 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at Berryhill Funeral Home followed by a chapel service at 2:00pm at the funeral home. A military graveside will follow at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
