Susan Marie Chandler, a native of Madison County, Alabama, passed away in Ellensburg, Washington. She was born July 2, 1961, at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, to Dorvon Chandler and Jewell Diamond.

Susan spent many years working for Chrysler in Madison, Alabama, until the plant closed in 2004. In 2016, ready for a change of scenery, she moved to Ellensburg and made a new home there. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, creating things with her hands to share with those she loved.

Susan is survived by her son, Tomie Henson and his wife, Janelle; her granddaughters, Kari and Kylie Henson; her sister, Theresa Brodie and her husband, Jim, as well as their two sons; her nephew, Glen Ponder; and her great-nephew and great-niece, Joshua Ponder and Miranda Smith.

Family held a special place in Susan’s life. Her nephew, Glen Ponder, was like a son to her, and her great-nephew and great-niece, Joshua Ponder and Miranda Smith, knew her as “Grandma Susan.” She will be remembered for the love she gave and the close bonds she shared with her family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jewel Diamond; her father, Dorvon Chandler; and her sisters, Patsy and Wanda.

Susan’s family will cherish the memories they made with her and the place she will always hold in their hearts.
