October 21, 1955 – March 11, 2026
Susan Smallwood, 70, of Hazel Green passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the home of her loving sister, Lisa and brother-in-law, Scott. Susan, a Huntsville native, a 1973 graduate of Lee High School; also retired from Huntsville Hospital purchasing department.
She was a faithful member of Huntsville Holiness Church where she was her happiest. She was loved by all and highly esteemed for her constant faith and conviction to serving the Lord.
She loved the outdoors and felt a deep connection with nature. She loved working in the yard and had a green thumb. Another one of her many talents was sewing, she was an excellent seamstress. She loved her many fur-babies and those which have already crossed the rainbow bridge, will continue their journey with her.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents Lonnie J. Jackson and Mary McAnally Jackson of Huntsville. She is survived by her husband of almost 41 years, William (Bill) Smallwood of Hazel Green, AL; her brother, Lonnie (Dean) Jackson (Sherry) of Hazel Green, AL; sister, Lisa Glisson (Scott) of Harvest, AL. Also survived by nephew Mathew Jackson of Huntsville, AL and Mary Katherine Lones (Nathan) and children of Hazel Green, AL. Susan is survived by many cousins and other family members all who loved her and will miss her greatly.
Susan will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kindness, strength and the many lives she touched will always be remembered.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 5:00pm-8:00pm and Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 11:00am-1:00pm. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm with Rev. Dale Cantrell and Rev. Patrick Price officiating.
All services are held at Huntsville Holiness Church, 4125 High Mountain Rd NE, Huntsville Al 35811. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
