Sylvia Lynn McGinnis Ingram

On Monday, August 17th, 2026 Sylvia Lynn McGinnis Ingram (73) passed away peacefully at her home in New Market, Alabama. 

She was preceded in death by her late husband Johnny Ingram, her mother Edna Lochridge, and her father John McGinnis. She is survived by her children Joseph Uptain (wife Jennifer), Shannon Gerseth, Brandy Duchaine, and Nichole Williams (Kale). Her grandchildren Peyton, Terrell, Will, Katy (Peyton), Avery, Amber, David, Ashton (Dakota), Zach, Sydney, Zayne, Alexi, Ronnie, and Sean. Her great grandchildren Savannah, Kaylin, Cain, and Weston. Her brother Daryl McGinnis and her sister Carol Johnson (Ricky), as well as her beloved nieces and nephew.

Sylvia retired from the United States Postal Service, where she served as a rural mail carrier in New Market, AL for over 20 years.

She was a faithful child of God who loved and supported her husbands' evangelistic ministry and opened her heart and home to others.

Her personality could best be described as loving, funny, vibrant, forgiving, colorful, humble, and eager to embrace all of those around her. 

Sylvia leaves behind many memories and a legacy of faith, love, and wisdom that will live on through her family, friends, and the many lives she touched.

It's not goodbye, it's until we meet again...

Visitation will be held at Berryhill Funeral Home on Friday, August 21 from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm, with a Chapel Service starting at 4:00 pm. Reverend Nick Johnson will be officiating.
