Sylvia Jo Self, 79, of Athens, Alabama, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025.

Mrs. Self is survived by her children, Patricia Anne McElwain, Johnny Ray Self, and James Derek Self (Tina); grandchildren, Michelle Pepper, Wesley McElwain, Celestine McKenzie, Amanda Page, Jessica Hughey, Johnathan Self, Joseph Self (Katrina), and Hanna Gann (Matthew); 13 great-grandchildren, and 15 great great-grandchildren.

She is preceded by her parents, Joe Hodges and Ruby Hodges Potter, and brother, Anthony ''Tony Ray'' Hodges.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Berryhill Funeral Home from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.  The service will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, in the chapel at 2:00 pm with Glyn Pool officiating.  Internment will follow at Gatlin Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Peyton Eggleston, Jathan Hughey, Matthew Gann, Welsey McElwain, Joseph Self, Johnny Self, Johnathan Self, James Self, and Corey Ray.
