IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ursula J.
Meyer
February 27, 1934 – August 4, 2025
Ursula Johanna Meyer (née Jacob), 91, died peacefully on August 4, 2025. She was born on February 27, 1934 in Coburg, Germany to Anneliese and Gerhardt Jacob.
Ursula completed her education and became quite adept at the English language, becoming a clerk for the US consulate in Munich after leaving home. She was the eldest of 3 sisters, and was by far the most adventurous of all. While in Munich, she submitted her biography to an American magazine, where she was immediately seen and pursued by a young GI, Robert Meyer, through pen pal letters. Soon thereafter, Robert was stationed in Berlin, and after one meeting, Ursula brought her mother to meet him for her approval. They were married on February 9, 1957 after only 3 brief meetings and became lifelong loving partners for 68 and a half years. In 1958, they moved to the United States, where they lived in multiple cities/states across the country.
She was a devoted daughter, and never missed a year to travel to her home country to be with her family. Ursula continued to work as office assistants until she became a mother to her 2 daughters. Once a mother, she became the neighborhood babysitter. She was loved by so many children and families and loved them all back during those years. She was always busy working on her home; she was an avid gardener, and loved being outside barefoot in the sun. Throughout the years with her young children, she was always busy with some project or job in retail. She made sure to work around her daughters' schedules so as to be fully available to them. Ursula and Robert moved to Hawaii in 1987 where they resided for the next 38 years. There, she worked in retail as department manager into her late 70's, her job interrupted intermittently by world traveling. With her husband, she experienced 13 world cruises, as well as multiple other cruises and land tours around the world. She was the life of many parties and her unfiltered language and conversation amused and entertained everyone around her.
She is survived by her husband Robert, her daughter Linda (Jay Dinerman), her daughter Sandra, her 2 grandsons (Aaron and Jonathan), and her youngest sister (Gisela Dewitt).
At her request, there will be no memorial service. Ursula had many global passions and was a strong proponent of saving the environment and addressing the complicated issues of climate change, fighting for world peace and addressing concerns of racism and prejudice. In her memory, we will continue to work to move forward with her passions. She will be forever missed and loved by all who knew her, but most of all, by her devoted husband and daughters.
