Richard Kizziah - December 7th 1939 -August 17th 2023

Dianne Kizziah - May 2nd 1946 - October 15th 2023

After 23 years together, Richard and Dianne Kizziah passed away peacefully at their home in Huntsville, Alabama within weeks of each other surrounded by loved ones.

A memorial service to honor their lives is planned for Thursday, October 26th at 11am at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama.

Richard and Dianne were loving parents to their children DeeAnn, Chuck, Ramona, Lynn, Junior, and Missy. They both felt that their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were their greatest blessings in life. They considered the-spouses of their children and grandchildren to be their own as well. They were extremely proud of their titles Granna-Mama and Papa Richard, given to them by their grandchildren who adored them. The love for their children also extended to their many special nieces and nephews. They both cherished their relationships with their siblings, as well as many friends who they considered family. Far too many names to name, but you all know who you are. Their family also included well-loved fur babies.

Richard was a retired Naval Chief Petty Officer. During his 20-year naval career he earned numerous medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon. He had a very playful and mischievous personality and loved to make everyone around him laugh. Sometimes he even laughed the loudest at his own jokes. Dianne too loved to laugh and had a loving, nurturing disposition. She made friends with everyone who crossed her path and enjoyed spoiling people and dogs with treats and gifts. No one who entered their home was allowed to leave without something in hand that she'd saved for them. She was very sentimental and saved every card or handwritten note anyone ever gave to her.

Her life was centered around Richard, their children, grandchildren and fur babies. Richard and Dianne shared a love for gospel music. He loved to sing and would often serenade Dianne with his favorite songs. He was a proud member of several gospel quartets including The Rainbow Quartet in his younger days. Another passion they shared was service to our Veterans and they made many cherished memories and special friends throughout their years volunteering at VFW Post 6022 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Richard served as Commander and Dianne President of the Ladies Auxiliary.

Richard and Dianne both expressed sadness over having to leave their loved ones here on earth behind but were very much looking forward to being reunited with those who passed before them. They were immensely grateful to the staff of Hospice of North Alabama for the care and kindness they received during their extended illnesses.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Richard and Dianne's name to Hospice of North Alabama, St Jude, any Veteran's organization, or Small Paws Rescue.
