Walter E. Williams, III, a resident of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama, passed away on January 24, 2026. He was 80 years old.

Walter served in the United States Navy 22 years and retired in 1984 from the Navy with a rank of Master Chief Petty Officer, E-9. At that time, he began his new career with the space industry and worked his way up the ladder to be Operations Manager for NTI, a sub-contractor for NASA.  He worked for another contractor, Colsa, at the time of his retirement, in 2007.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Judy Harkey Williams. The two had been together for 65 years. He is also survived by two children, Walter E. Williams IV, married to Amanda Perry Williams, and Audrey Lynne Williams Kimner; five grandchildren: Dylan Michael Williams, married to Taylor McSpadden Williams, Kathryn Nicole Williams Houk, married to Joshua Houk, Lauren Elizabeth Williams, Jordan Elizabeth Kimner, and Cameron Hunter Kimner; one great-grandchild, Braylin Nicole Williams, age 6; one sister, Veronica Faye Williams Lindstrom, married to Hershel D.Lindstrom; and four nieces: Mary Kathryn Williams Simion, Lisa Renee Lindstrom Robinson, Kimberly Faye Lindstrom Elizondo, and Wendy Louise Montgomery Heuer, married to Richard Heuer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter E. Williams, Jr., and mother, Mary Kathryn Brooks Williams.

There are many friends and acquaintances left behind.  With much gratitude given to Msgr, Michael Chilen for preparing the service, and many thanks to the six pallbearers, Walter E. Williams IV, Dylan Michael Williams, Joshua Houk, Hal Greenlee, Pat Hart, and Rick Oelkers.

Walter E. Williams III will be immensely missed for his dedication to his family, his amazing smile, his professional attitude, and his love of God and country.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 1st from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home. Chapel service will be Monday, February 2nd at 2:00 PM, followed by burial in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
