Obituary

Warren Sadler, 88, of Huntsville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 11. He had suffered complications following a recent fall.

Mr. Sadler was born and raised in San Jose, California. He was part of a close, loving family of sincere Christ-followers, and that background laid a firm foundation for the rest of his life. He graduated from San Jose State with a degree in Industrial Design. Designing and building things, along with teaching useful skills to others, were integral parts of his life as well. Mr. Sadler came to Huntsville in the early 1960s when he was stationed at Redstone Arsenal during a two-year commitment in the army. He met his future wife, Sharon, while visiting a local church. They married in 1963 and moved back to California, ultimately settling in Huntsville in 1969.

Mr. Sadler enjoyed a long and fruitful career as the Vice Principal and then Director of the Day Program at the Huntsville Center for Technology. He led their chapter of the Vocational and Industrial Clubs of America (VICA) for many years. Due to his skills and love of woodworking, he taught night classes at the Tech Center and also had a cabinet making business with his dear friend, Ken Bauer. He and his family attended the Free Methodist Church in Huntsville, where Mr. Sadler served at different times as the youth director and Sunday School superintendent. He was committed to  supporting the Church with his prayers, time, skills, and finances throughout his life.

During his retirement years, Mr. Sadler remained active with his family, friends, and projects. He and his wife and other family members enjoyed many wonderful trips together. He loved vintage automobiles and was the president of the local Studebaker club for several years. He knew the value of deep relationships and faithfully visited and called his many friends. One of his greatest joys over the last few years was meeting his friend Paul Gates for lunch at the Dallas Mill Deli. His highest priority was sharing his faith in Jesus Christ with others, and he gave out hundreds of copies of a booklet called "Knowing God Personally."

Mr. Sadler was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lillie Sadler. He is survived by his sister, Dorala Lindstrom (Prince George, British Columbia, Canada); his devoted wife of 62 years, Sharon Sadler; his daughter Shannon (Brian) Clark, of Huntsville, and grandchildren Rachel, Caleb, and Joshua Clark; and his daughter Lillie (Chris) Johnson, of Albertville, and grandchildren Will, Elijah and Moses Johnson, and Micaela and Soña Reynoso.

His viewing will begin at 10:00am on Friday, May 16 at Berryhill Funeral Home, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00am. He will be laid to rest at Maple Hill Cemetery.
