IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Lewis
Harris
May 2, 1968 – November 26, 2025
William Lewis Harris passed away at age 57 on November 26th in Huntsville, Alabama.
Born on May 2nd, 1968, in Brazil, Indiana, William was the son of Bill and Ludema Harris. He graduated from Northview High School in 1986. William went on to serve 25 years in the Army with elite units including the 75th Ranger Regiment and 1st SFOD-D, where he retired as a SGM. His various awards include a Purple Heart and 6 Bronze stars, one with V device. While never one to say it, his service career was extraordinary. Following his years of service, William concluded his career at the FBI Ballistic Research Facility in Huntsville, Alabama.
In addition to being a committed member of our nation's military, William was a devoted husband, loving father, and attentive friend. These were duties that he took just as seriously. As a husband, William cherished his wife Sheri with whom he knew he had found a perfect match. He was often quick to point out, with great admiration and pleasure, that she had shot a deer bigger than most of their friends ever had. They shared an unwavering strength of spirit with which they built a wonderful life and family. As a father, William always encouraged his children to be their truest selves and reveled in their accomplishments. He rarely ended a phone call without first telling them how proud he was of them and how much he loved them. As a friend, William was equal parts steadfast supporter, trusted advisor, and quick-witted jokester. He meant many things to many different people, with the common thread being that he made your life better.
William leaves us all better than how he found us, and for that we are eternally grateful. We love him immensely and are committed to living our lives to the fullest in his honor. He will be dearly missed.
William is survived by his wife, Sheri; his children, Garrett, Megan, and Kylie; his granddaughter, Hadleigh; his siblings, Brad, Becky, Brenda, Lucinda, Leslie, and Tracey; his extended family; and countless friends.
