Blaine Potter, age 35, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on July 18, 2026. 

Blaine is survived by his loving parents, Ron and Delita Potter; his fiancé, Emily Yates of Huntsville, AL; brother, Dustin (Jenny), of Melbourne, FL; and his nieces and nephew, who absolutely adored their “Uncle Blaine”: Lyla, Lilly, and Jack. He is also survived by his grandmother, Jean Ball; aunts, Connie Wright and Irma Gunter (Jimmy); cousins, Cole, Chase, Travis, and Kelly; as well as many other loving relatives and lifelong friends. 

Blaine is preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Janice Potter of Tonganoxie, KS, and the Rev. Marion Ball of Jackson, AL.

An alumnus of Coastal Community College, Blaine took great pride in his academic achievements, earning a place in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. He also brought his hard work, dedication, and deep love for the outdoors to his time at Bass Pro Shops, where he quickly gained more responsibility and earned the respect and affection of his co-workers. Blaine was a light not only to his customers but also to anyone he met.

In his free time, Blaine enjoyed playing guitar, hunting, fishing, traveling to the mountains, and spending time with his family at Little Lagoon in Gulf Shores, Alabama. An avid sports fan, he absolutely lived for Alabama football and KU basketball, bringing vibrant energy and passion to every game day.

He was deeply compassionate toward those less fortunate and went out of his way to help others in need. His friends and family often remarked on his infectious laugh, which could fill a room and bring smiles to everyone present.

Blaine was deeply and actively involved in the recovery community, where his compassion, shared journey, and open heart touched countless lives across Montana, Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia. Most recently, Longleaf Recovery and Archway Recovery Residences were a large part of his life, providing a community where he could both find support and give it to others.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 23, at Berryhill Funeral Home, 6-8:00 PM. A celebration of Blaine’s Life will be scheduled later.
