September 30, 1936 – January 21, 2026
William Raymond Thorne, 89, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and service. He shared an extraordinary life with his beloved wife, Margie. To whom he was married to for 68 years. Their marriage was a beautiful example of commitment, loyalty, and enduring love, and Margie remained the center of his world throughout his life. William honorably served his country in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Air Force, a source of lifelong pride that reflected his deep sense of duty and patriotism.
William owned and operated Earl's Small Engines, where he was known for his skill, honesty, and willingness to help anyone who walked through the door. In his quieter moments, he found happiness in his hobbies and love for animals. He had a lifelong love for building and flying RC airplanes, enjoyed reading, and felt most at peace when he was surrounded by the outdoors. Whether immersed in a good book or appreciating nature, he valued the calm and beauty of life's simpler pleasures.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vera "Pat" Childers and William "Doug" Thorne, and his beloved daughter, Debbie.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margie; children: Daniel Thorne (Kelle), Diana Thornton (David), and Doreen Rose (Mike);seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. William is also survived by his sister, Marilyn Hudson, and brothers,
Wayne and Alan Thorne.
William will be remembered as a steady, kind presence- a man who loved deeply, served faithfully and lived with purpose. He leaves behind cherished memories that will continue to comfort and inspire those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be Friday, January 30th from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home, followed by service at 2:00 with Rev. Tim Cole officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
