IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Winfred
Clemons
December 8, 1934 – February 20, 2026
In Loving Memory
Winfred Clemons
Winfred—known lovingly as Daddy, PawPaw, and Great-PawPaw—passed away peacefully in his sleep after a long battle with COPD and a brief fight with lung cancer.
Born and raised in Madison County, he and his wife of more than 50 years, Geneva, built a life rooted in faith, family, and service. Together they raised three children. He was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren and great-grandfather to twelve. He was truly blessed.
Winfred began his career at the downtown Cadillac dealership before joining the City of Huntsville Fire Department, where he served for over 30 years. He also owned and operated Clemons Trucking for more than four decades, managing and driving until he was no longer able. A devoted Alabama football fan, he also cherished quiet moments spent watching classic Westerns—drawn to their stories of grit and honor.Above all, Winfred treasured his family.
He is survived by his son Rickey Clemons (Eula Mae) and daughter Janet Pollard; grandsons Rick Clemons (Christy), Kyle Clemons (Misty), and
Tommy Pollard Jr. (Abby); and granddaughter Caitlin Russell (Justin). His great-grandsons include Wesley, Garrett, Parker, Will, Cole, Clay, and Sawyer Clemons; Grayson and Tommy Cade Russell; and great-granddaughters Eva Smith, Claire Clemons, and Millie Pollard.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Geneva, son Randall, parents Luther and Ruby Clemons, sisters Christine and Cornelia, and brother Johnny.
Visitation will be held at Berryhill Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with funeral service immediately following at 1:00. The service will be officiated by Pastor Rick Clemons. Graveside service will follow at Concord Presbyterian Cemetery.
Winfred will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his deep love for his family, and the lasting impression he left on everyone who knew him.
