Obituary

Woody Blalock, 52, of Toney, Alabama, stepped into glory on June 19, 2026.

He was born on September 29, 1973, in Albany, Georgia. He lived the majority of his life in South Georgia until moving to North Alabama in 2021. Woody was a truck driver of 27 years, including the last 16 years of his career with Tyson Foods. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather (Paw Paw), son, brother, uncle, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy defined by faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, abundant generosity, and an unmistakable presence that filled every room he entered. Known to many as larger than life, Woody carried a warmth and strength that made people feel seen, cared for, and never alone.

Woody’s life was marked by a rare kind of care for others. He had a true servant’s heart and was always willing to help in any way possible. No one went without when he was around. Whether through a helping hand, a listening ear, or simply showing up when it mattered most, he lived out a daily commitment to taking care of those he loved as well as any person, known or unknown, that he saw in need. His faith in God was central to who he was, guiding his actions and shaping the way he treated everyone he met. That devotion was evident not just in words, but in the way he lived.

He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Holly Blalock; mother-in-law, Yvonne Blalock;  grandmother, Dorothy Nobles; uncle, Dennis Nobles; and father, Woody Herren. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ivy Blalock; father-in-law, Steve Blalock; daughter, Anna Blalock; grandson, A. J. Landers; mother, Mary Jane Timmons; two sisters, Mylena Daniel and Amanda Herren; nieces Izzy Daniel, Jess Nobles, Kristine Smith, and Ashley Etheredge; as well as a wide circle of extended family and friends who loved him deeply.

To those closest to him, Woody was not only family; he was a steady source of encouragement, humor, and unwavering support. He was also known for his compassion beyond people, dedicating time as a volunteer with animal rescue efforts.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to support that work at [Rocket City Rescue](https://RocketCityRescue.org?utm_source=chatgpt.com).

Woody Blalock will be remembered for his boundless generosity, his deep faith, and the way he made others feel valued and cared for. His presence will be deeply missed, but the impact of his life will continue to be felt by all who knew and loved him. Although our hearts are shattered, we can find comfort in knowing that he is now in his eternal home where he will live forever in the Kingdom of God with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. ET at New Park Cemetery in Fort Gaines, Georgia. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM ET with Pastor Brady Jordan officiating.

Berryhill Funeral Home assisted the family.
