Obituary

Albrecht Wever walked this earth for 85 years.  He was the tenth child of twelve born to Eugen and Marie Wever in Wuppertal, Germany, before World War II.  As a youngster, he helped put out roof and forest fires due to bombing raids, and later was sent for safety to Holland and then to the German countryside.  His education in Germany was limited by the war; instead he completed his apprenticeship and worked as a tool and die maker as a young man.  He immigrated to the U.S., helped by Dr. Donald Gray Barnhouse of Philadelphia as his sponsor.  Dr. Barnhouse recognized his abilities, encouraging him to broaden his knowledge base.  Albrecht graduated with a B.A. in Physics, and continued that study in graduate school.  As an undergraduate, he met and married Grace Marie Harbin, a fellow student. Their marriage endured for nearly 57 years.  Albrecht worked for Eastman Kodak in Rochester, New York, where his contributions to both product and process design and engineering were legendary.  After retirement, he worked as a technical consultant.  He and his wife relocated to Union Grove, Alabama, south of the Huntsville area where his wife's family had lived for many years.  The couple were enthusiastic members of the Seniors Sunday School Class at Arab First Baptist Church.

His three children and their spouses include David Wever, M.D., wife Lisa Ward Wever, of Birmingham, AL; Ingrid Wever Felts, of Huntsville, AL; and Michael Carl Wever, wife Mary Lynch Wever, of Dothan, AL.  Their nine grandchildren include Ashlynne Hope, Morganne Grace, and Max Wever of Birmingham; Caleigh Madison and Michael Drea Felts of Huntsville, AL; and David Matthew, Katherine Marie, Jonathan Michael, and Joy Michelle Wever, of Dothan, AL.  His surviving siblings in Germany include three older sisters Doris W. Seibel; Ruth Edith W. Limperg and husband Gerd; Matilde W. Riedel; and younger brother Harald Wever.  Close relatives include brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Carole and Russ Parry of Wesley Chapel, FL; Dr. Lois Pope and husband Bill Pope of Huntsville, AL, and Charles and Lynne Harbin, of Norcross, GA.

Albrecht learned much in depth about the Bible from Dr. Barnhouse, with whom he lived for several years before entering college.  His love of the Scriptures allowed him to witness to many, and he was privileged to lead many to the Lord during his time on earth.  We are thankful for the joyful times we spent with him, and mourn his passing, though we know he has gone home to a better place.

A service will be held on July 20, 2019, at Arab First Baptist Church in Arab, AL, with visitation from 10-11 AM, followed by the memorial service.  Those interested in making donations in lieu of flowers may send them to the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation, 3601 CCI Drive, Huntsville, AL 35805.
