Betty Sue
Sprinkle
November 2, 1929 – October 26, 2021
Betty Sue Sprinkle, 91, of Huntsville, died in her bed from medical complications, 26 October 2021. She was born on November 2, 1929 in Beaverton Alabama, the daughter of the late Noah and Donnie-Mae Lawhon. In addition to her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her sister Barbara Poole (husband Bymol). Betty's devoted, loving, and dutiful husband "Mad Harold" has awaited her in heaven since 2002.
She is survived by: three children Harold (wife Hope), Donald (wife Julie), and Catherine (husband Chuck); five grandchildren (Teaghan, Tara, Dean, Claire, Tracy); three great-grandchildren (Gage, Layton, Logan); nieces Cindy, Laura, Beth, and Kim; and a number relatives from west Alabama to Alberta Canada.
Betty's life was a full one. Fresh out of school she joined the FBI and became a secretary for J. Edgar Hoover in Washington D.C. There she got married, moved around with her husband from one government site to another, ending up in Huntsville Alabama.
After some time, Betty took a job with the J C Penney Co, which lasted 23 years. Betty was a character to those who knew her. She: sang in the choir and played the piano at church; was sharp tongued and direct to some while humorous and polite to others; either hard at work or just sitting quietly; was a proud member of the Eastern Star and loved the Lords work; secretly, she was a "closet stock-street car racer", because quite a few HPD officers pulled her over for speeding "the Green Dart" while attempting a new record getting to work.
Most of all, Betty loved to sew. From the age of five to her last year she could be found with some type of sewing paraphernalia about her…except for the stray needle we found for her!
Betty "the Old Turtle" will be missed.
