Bruce Tyrone Shelton's Obituary

Bruce recently retired and was pursuing his many interests and hobbies. His love of cigars and the art of grilling and smoking meats was matched only by his enthusiasm for riding his Spyder motorcycle, going to the shooting range, driving his beloved trucks and Camaro, and listening to classic rock. Bruce was a huge Alabama football fan as well, and anyone who met him knew that about him immediately.

He also loved car racing, to include NASCAR, Indy Car, and Formula 1. He watched races every week, regardless of anything else going on. And in spite of an awful wreck in high school that landed him in the hospital for several weeks with a multi-fractured femur, he still loved riding motorcycles. He owned many models throughout his lifetime, and was an active member of several riding clubs in the North Alabama area over the years. He took multiple motorcycle trips over the years, and in 2023, he was finally able to take a much anticipated trip across multiple states on his Spyder.
Professionally, Bruce was a highly distinguished graphic designer, working for the last 10+ years for Leidos-Dynetics. While he couldn't talk about details of his work assignments, he often spoke affectionately about his good friends at work, and took great pride in his many professional accomplishments.

Bruce often spoke fondly of his friends and family, and anyone he loved and cared about - whether they were neighbors, co-workers, friends, or family members. He'll be truly missed by all who knew him. He took great pride in spending time with, and talking about, his granddaughter Ava.  Bruce spent many hours at the softball field cheering Ava on, and loved every visit they had together. She affectionately called him "Brucie", and they always had the grandest time together no matter what they were doing.

A visitation will be held in his honor at Berryhill Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from 12:00-2:00, with graveside service to follow at 2:30 at Maple Hill Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest beside his mom, Caroline Price, and his dad, William Louis Shelton, as well as his stepdad Jim Price. He was also proceeded in death by his brother, Glynn Price.

Bruce leaves behind several close family members, to include: his granddaughter Ava Beckham, his stepdaughter Kristin Walden, his stepson Jameson Walden, in addition to aunts and uncles, and several cousins on both sides of his family.

Memorials can be sent to Berryhill Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that you light up a cigar, fire up the grill, or take a leisurely motorcycle ride in Bruce's honor.
