Charles Victor Gray, husband, father, grandfather, brother and true friend passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 8th, surrounded by family and friends. Born at home in the Lincoln Mill Village on November 21, 1944, to Charlie Wade Gray and Veda Hastings Gray, Charles ("Budd" to family and friends, "Big Daddy" to the grandkids) grew up in Huntsville and attended Lee and Butler High Schools. He met the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Jo Clements, at the University of North Alabama. Charles served in the Army and did a tour of duty stationed at the DMZ in South Korea from 1971 to 1972. He was always proud of his military service.

Returning with Jo to Huntsville, Charles worked at Teledyne Brown Engineering until 1984, when he started his own company. Charles was an avid golfer and played for many years. He could hit a golf ball what seemed like a mile off the tee. Charles also loved Alabama football and was a faithful supporter of the program.

Most of all, Charles was devoted to his family, enjoying nothing more than spending time with Jo, the kids and the grandkids. Charles was a faithful Christian, attending Mayfair Church of Christ since 1972 and serving as a deacon.
Charles is survived by his wife, Jo; sister, Edna Faye Hunter; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Michelle Gray; daughter and son-in-law, Lara Beth and Rick Segrest; and six grandchildren, Ethan (21), Riley (19) and Hastings (17) Gray and Charlotte (7), Olivia (7) and John Isaac (3) Segrest.

Visitation will be at Mayfair Church of Christ on Friday, May 10, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following.
