December 12, 1942 – January 21, 2022
James "Jim" Edward Wiggins, 79, of Huntsville, was called home to Jesus on January 21 st , 2022.
Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a former resident of Chattanooga, TN where he graduated from Edmonson College with a degree in Business Administration. This is where he met his loving wife Brenda of 54 years. He was an active real estate agent with Legend Realty. Jim was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he served on various committees. He was a proud veteran of the US Army Reserves and served his country for 29 years, earning several meritorious and achievement medals.
Jim loved serving others in the community. He was a founding member of the Benton H. Wilcoxon Iceplex Board of Control. He served as a volunteer with Panoply, Madison County Sheriff's Department, Little League, Team Read, PAR, and TPC Sawgrass. Jim never met a stranger and lived life to the fullest. He was a lifelong University of Alabama football fan, and enjoyed traveling, snow skiing, playing golf, and spending time with family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wiggins and his sister Frances Hannah-Collins.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; son, Adam Edward Wiggins (Gretchen); grandson, Brodie Adam Wiggins; Dr. and Mrs. Alan Dowd and family; and many other friends and family members.
A celebration of life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church of Huntsville on Thursday, January 27 th . The family will receive friends from 12-2pm with the service immediately following with Mac Buttram officiating. Pallbearers will be Terry Lewis, John Kesting, Matthew Dowd, Josh Dowd, Jim Hoekenschnieder and Charles Ray Graham. Honorary pallbearer will be Brodie Wiggins. Interment will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery on Friday, January 28 th at 10:30 EST.
In lieu of flowers , the family suggest memorials be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Middle Tennessee, 105 West Park Drive #415, Brentwood, TN 37027. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
