Jan graduated from Madison County High School in 1963. In 1995, after many years in the working world, she decided to go back to school to further her education and she graduated in 1998 Sigma Cum Laude from Athens State University with a Masters of Science in Contract Management all while working a full-time job and taking care of her family and home.  As a child, she would get hymn books from the church to learn how to read music so that she could teach herself to play the piano. Jan had a beautiful singing voice and she loved to play piano and sing for people. Jan used that amazing voice as a way to show her love for the Lord.

Jan was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church it was here that she played piano while her 2nd husband Raymond was the song leader. Together with his Brother Jude Lasater and sister-in-law Beatrice Lasater, they formed the gospel group The Spiritual Aires. Jan really loved traveling to different churches, meeting new people, and giving praise to God through song. Jan also loved to cook and feed people, she enjoyed traveling mainly to the Smoky Mountains and reading a good book, and as she got a little older she liked to paint. But More than any of those things Jan Loved her family and spending time with them. Jan was a wonderful person with a huge heart and she will be missed dearly by many.

There will be a Service on Friday 2/28 at Brownsboro Baptist Church with brother Rick Cantrell officiating. Burial of her ashes will be at Maple Hill immediately following the Service and all are welcome that would like to attend.
