Jeff Mcallister's Obituary

Jeff McAllister, age 57, died suddenly at his home early Saturday morning, November 17, 2018, evidently from a massive heart attack. Jeff was a general contractor in Huntsville for many years, carrying on the family business (McAllister & Sons) after his father retired. He was a skilled craftsman with an eye for design, and he remodeled, added to, or rebuilt many fine Huntsville homes.
Jeff was born at Huntsville Hospital on October 27, 1961. He was the son of Bobby Joe (now deceased) and Jeri Lynne Jones McAllister Miller (Walter). He is survived by his brother, Jeremy Clyde McAllister (Kristie). Two other siblings predeceased him: Joe McAllister (Carol) and Andrea Jill Larsen. He also leaves two nephews: William Clark McAllister and Robert Angelo Larsen; and five nieces: Erin McAllister Lopez (Ramses), Katherine Larsen Cruz (Jason), Hanna McAllister Evans (Tyler), Allysa Miller, and Grace McAllister. He had three great-nephews: Layton Joseph Lopez, Nolan Ramses Lopez, and Angelo James Cruz. Although he was not a father himself, Jeff loved babies and was delighted that he was soon to become a great uncle to two more boys, and at last, a great-niece. He also leaves his two four-footed friends, Emmitt and Ellie Mae, who are lost without him and need a new loving home.
Jeff attended Fifth Avenue Elementary, Madison Academy, Grissom High School (where he  ran cross-country), Southern Union College in Opelika, and Auburn University.
While at Auburn, living near the vet school, he became the recipient of his first pit bull, Arnold. He became Jeff's best buddy and was eventually the best man at Jeff's wedding. He trained Arnold to bring a 2x4 up a ladder to the roof where Jeff was working. He couldn't climb back down, but would wait patiently for Jeff to assist him! Arnold (named for the white pig on "Green Acres") always wore a red bandana and was a landmark around Huntsville. Arnold was the first in a series of pit bulls, who are loyal and loving dogs when well trained.
Jeff was a lifelong member of the Mayfair Church of Christ. He went on many mission trips to Mexico, Honduras, New York, Mississippi, and Louisiana. He was a member of the "Hammerheads," a disaster-relief/construction crew sponsored by Mayfair. He was known for constructing a cross to top each church building they erected.
Although a man of few words, his impact was felt by all who knew him. He was a generous, loving son, brother, and friend. He will be sorely missed, but is now enjoying a heavenly feast in the presence of his brother, sister, father, and grandparents, and sitting at the feet of the King of the Universe.
