Joel Keith Hastings, age 68, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, December 19, 2024. He was a longtime resident of Huntsville, Alabama.

There were two things of which he was very proud. One was being a Veteran of the Marines (Drill Sergeant/MP). The other, out of all the many jobs in his lifetime, was being a funeral director. Many grieving families found compassion in his care.

Joel is survived by his loving wife, Terri, whom he affectionately called "Foxy". They were married for a little over 20 years. He loved his children: James Chaney, Beth Edwards (Don), Daniel Hensley (Deanna), Samuel Hensley, and Abby Hood (Tommy). He was blessed with 7 grandchildren: Lauren and Ethan Edwards; Emily, Ethan, and Evan Hood; Annalynn Hensley and Noah Eskew. He also leaves behind his stepfather, Michael Pool.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents, Jimmy Hastings and Kathy Pool. His sister, Vanessa Pool, also left this earth before him.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 4th at 1 p.m. at Asbury Church on Hughes Road in Madison. The family will receive friends at 12:00 on that day. Rev. Tommy Gray will be officiating. A reception will follow for the family.

A special thank you goes out to his precious nurse, Dawn Tittle, from Hospice Family Care of Huntsville. She was a tremendous blessing to his wife and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation which supports this Hospice Center.
