Jonathan Randall
Avery
March 7, 1948 – February 23, 2025
Jonathan (Jon) Randall Avery, passed away on February 23, 2025. He was born on March 07, 1948, in New York City, New York to Dorothy Marie August Avery and Randall Barnes Avery. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Susan Marie Avery; daughter, Dawn Marie (Ron Holden) and son, Roger Thomas (Lisa). He had two grandchildren, Auryon Marie and Bishop Thomas; three brothers, Daniel F. Avery (Joan), Robert M. Avery (Claudia), and Randall B. Avery, Jr. (Janet). He leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who he considered family.
Jon graduated from Miami Palmetto Sr. High in 1966 and went on to spent a couple of years at Miami-Dade Junior College before realizing he had passion for computer programming. In 1967, he met the love of his life, Susan Foster, and on April 23, 1971, they married. Together they moved to Huntsville, Alabama. Jon established a 40 year distinguished career as a computer software developer for SCI Systems Inc, Sanmina-SCI, and Foxconn.
Jon never met a stranger and loved a proper scotch on the rocks! He had a sense of humor and honest, raw sarcasm that would make the whole room laugh. As an example, at one point he built up hundreds of hours of sick time. When asked about it, he jokingly said "I drink, I smoke, no self-respecting germ would be caught dead in my body!".
Jon loved his family, music (proudly went to Woodstock), and the NY Giants. He enjoyed his life to the fullest and never spilled his beer!
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 7th, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Berryhill Funeral Home. No services are planned.
