Kevin Gah Doty, 68, of Harvest, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 27, 2025. He was often described as a godly man of character, kindness, and scholarship, with a satirical sense of humor. Intellectual rigor came easily to him—he was always researching scripture, politics, the weather, and creative solutions to household challenges.

Kevin was well known for his passion for weather and was the go-to source for severe weather updates among family and friends. He retired as a research meteorologist from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He earned meteorology-related degrees from Purdue and Penn State Universities and a Ph.D. in Physics and Atmospheric Science from Drexel University.

Kevin loved nature and animals, often dreaming of spending more time fly fishing and bird watching with friends. Animals seemed to be naturally drawn to him, just as he was to them. He could never resist a good dog story, whether he had met the animal or not.

Kevin is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Cynthia (Cindy) Doty; his mother-in-law, Bettye Ruth Hill; his sisters-in-law Barbara Hendrix (Larry), Connie Taylor (Doug) and Cheryl Hill; nieces and nephews, Gina Doty and Renee Doty, Evan Hendrix, Rachael Russell (Patrick), Tricia Rhodes (Spencer) and Angela Perez (Nic). He also leaves behind several great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and close family friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Harold Doty; his brother, Gary Doty; his nephew, Brian Doty; and his brother-in-law, Jack (Andy) Hill.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the basement fellowship hall of Wall Highway Baptist Church (6597 Wall Triana Hwy, Madison, AL 35757). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary.
