January 16, 1950 – November 20, 2024
Marvin Albert Emerson, Jr., 74, of New Market, Alabama earned his reward on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Marvin was born to Marvin, Sr. and Helen Emerson on January 16, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan.
After graduating from Wayne Memorial High School in 1968, Marvin worked for Ford Motor Company. In 1969, he was drafted and served in the United States Army in Okinawa, Japan for 2 years. After service, Marvin continued to work for Ford as a machinist until his retirement in 2008.
Marvin will be remembered for many things; an avid outdoorsman, a hard worker, a gearhead, a loving husband, father and grandfather, but he would want to be remembered foremost as a faithful follower of Christ. Even in his last days, Marvin made certain that everyone who cared for him and visited heard the Gospel. He loved meeting with the saints at East Huntsville church of Christ and attending the annual Mid-West Lectures in Independence, Missouri.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin, Sr. and Helen Emerson; and sister, Rosa Emerson-Schmit.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; son, Michael (Georgi) Emerson; daughters, Emily (Sam) Taylor and Courtney (Bradley) Bowen; and two grandsons, Lucas (Sara Ann) Emerson, and Camdyn Taylor. Marvin is also survived by his sister, Judy (Larry) Bozeman; brother, Larry Emerson, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He will be remembered by the countless number of souls touched by his kindness, humor, and love.
