Melissa "Missy" Lynne Goodwin, beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on November 11, 2024, at the age of 49. Born on October 27, 1975, in Huntsville, Alabama, Melissa lived a life full of warmth, creativity, and devotion to those she loved.

A 1994 graduate of Grissom High School, Melissa began her journey in the restaurant industry at just 16, finding her passion for food, hospitality, and community. She helped launch Pauli's Bar and Grill in Madison, Alabama, becoming a vital part of the local dining scene. Her culinary talents shone through in her cooking and her beautifully decorated baked goods, which were as much a treat for the eyes as they were for the taste buds. Beyond the kitchen, Melissa found joy in dance and ballet, hobbies that brought lightness and expression to her life.

Above all, Melissa's greatest joy was raising her three children, Hannah Thornton, Meagan Thornton, and Watson Goodwin, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to supporting and guiding them, always present and active in their lives.

Melissa is survived by her mother, Karen Worley, her siblings Patty Tapp and Jonathan Schmidt, her three children, her granddaughter, Cordelia Young, her step-father, David Schmidt, and many more family members and friends who loved her deeply. She was preceded in death by her father, James McCaleb, whose memory she always carried close to her heart.

The family of Mrs. Goodwin will receive friends on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. The memorial service will immediately follow in the chapel at 2:00 p.m., with Mr. Carry St. John officiating.
