Rev. Jack David Kelly, 75, of Big Cove, RAN through the gates of Heaven on Thursday, November 3, 2022. While we are grieved by his departure, we rejoice with him - knowing that he has received the ultimate healing he so desired. In our hearts, we know that he is leaping down streets of gold.
A 1965 graduate of Madison County High School, Jack completed his education at Horns School of Drafting, where he learned drafting and design. He began his career at SCI, later working for Motorola, and eventually retiring from Adtran in 2013, as a printed circuit board designer. Jack was a well-respected employee and implemented practices that are still utilized by Adtran employees to this day.
Jack received the baptism of the Holy Ghost on June 1, 1977, at Black Oak Holiness Church in Black Oak, Indiana. From the time he began his walk with the Lord, Jack sought to please God in every aspect of his life. Soon, it became evident that God's hand was upon Jack, and in 1991 he answered the call into the ministry, moving his family over 200 miles from the only home they had ever known to pastor a little church in Mayfield, Kentucky. God blessed and prospered the Hebron Holiness Church, but the time came for the Kelly's to come home; and in 1996 they returned to the Big Cove Community and to the Huntsville Holiness Church. Here, Jack assisted Rev. David Jones until becoming the pastor of the church in 2009. As it had through Bro. David's ministry, the Huntsville Church continued to grow under Bro. Jack's leadership; and with such growth Bro. Jack saw the need for the church to expand into a larger facility. In October of 2021, he was able to see his vision move forward when he attended a groundbreaking ceremony on the side of Chapman Mountain where the congregation of Huntsville Holiness Church will worship beginning sometime in 2023.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Ann Jacks Kelly, and Marvin Leo and Betty Lou Kelly; and parents-in-law, W. Paul and "Goody" Catherine Moore Simmons. He is survived by his faithful wife of 55 years, Suzie Simmons Kelly; children: Marty and Lee Rogers, Kyle and Renae Kelly, Justin Kelly, Dustin and Melissa Kelly, and Melia and Jeremy Randles; grandchildren: Kylee and Erik Aragaki, Kade Rogers and Kelsey Keilman, Baylen Kelly and Allison Greene, Jackson Kelly, Grayson Kelly, Harley Kelly, Hallie Kelly, Konnor Kelly, Kensley Kelly, Kamron and Alexis Randles, and Keelie and Bailey Towry; great-grandchildren: Rowan Aragaki, Ridge Aragaki, Casyn Kelly, Charlotte Randles, Caroline Randles, and more on the way; siblings: Marvin Kelly, JoAnn and Donald Payne, Nancy and Freddy Little, Karen Kelly, George Kelly, and John and Victoria Kelly; bonus children: Heather and Tim Middlebrooks, Clay and Anna Middlebrooks, and Tanner Carney and a great host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Rev. Kelly will lie in state at the Huntsville Holiness Church, where the family will receive friends from 2 o'clock until 8 o'clock on Saturday, November 5, and again on Sunday from 11 o'clock until 1 o'clock. The funeral will begin at 1 o'clock with the Revs. Patrick Price, Dale Cantrell, Totchie McLain, and Michael Clark, officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Valley Cemetery in Big Cove.
The Kelly Family wishes to express their great appreciation to the congregation of the Huntsville Holiness Church for the loving care they have shown to Bro. Jack and family throughout his years of sickness. We pray God's blessings upon each one who has made any effort to lighten our load.
