Mr. Robert Dewitt Sartain died peacefully at his home on February 28th 2022 in New Market, Alabama at the age of 88.

He is survived by his wife Anna Lois Allen Sartain, children Robert D. Sartain II (Florentina) and Cheryl Sartain Jacks and grandchildren, Tracy Sartain Yandric (Petey) and Kelly Jacks Wallace (Marty) along with 4 great-grandchildren, Hazel, Emory, Wyatt and Waylon. He is also survived by his brothers, David (Susie) Sartain and Mike Sartain. He is preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Sadie Sartain, brother Geary Sartain.

Robert Sartain was born on June 25th 1933 in Huntsville Alabama to Melvin and Sadie. He graduated from Huntsville High School in 1951.

He served in the United States Army from 1954 until 1956. While serving in the military, he married Lois Allen on October 31st 1954 in Iuka, Mississippi while on a weekend pass from the army. They settled in Huntsville, Al and are residents of New Market, Al.  He was a long-time member at New Market United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing and traveling. He never met a stranger and was loved dearly by family and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 2nd from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 at Rice Cemetery. Reverend Patrick Cooley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to New Market Volunteer Fire Department or Bobbie Odom Food Pantry at New Market Methodist Church.
