On 25 April 2018, the Big Wow called an audible, and Rollin William Putzier played his final down. He was 52.
Rollin lived a life shaped by football, first on teams in his home town of Post Falls, Idaho, and later at the University of Oregon, in the National Football League, and in the World League of American Football.
After his football career, Rollin worked in juvenile corrections, as a personal trainer, and as a bouncer. In his private life, Rollin enjoyed horse racing, working out, training young athletes, and watching his children play sports.
Rollin is survived by his son, Rollin; daughter, Racquel; mother, Judith; and sisters, Laura and Marygwyn. Rollin was preceded in death by his father, Rollin Jerome Putzier.
A celebration of Rollin's life will be held from 12:30—1:45 p.m. on Monday, 14 May 2018, at the Sandra Moon Community Complex—the old Grissom High School gymnasium, where he loved watching Rollin and Racquel play basketball. The Sandra Moon Community Complex is located at 7901 Bailey Cove Road Huntsville, AL 35802.
Instead of flowers, the family asks that you share a happy memory of Rollin, and please consider a memorial donation to the ALS Association (http://www.alsa.org/).
