Shawn Allen
Shelton
July 1, 1971 – October 31, 2023
Shawn Allen Shelton age 52, was an outgoing jovial soul that loved his wife Carol, his children, grandchildren, family and friends.
He was born on July 1, 1971 to Clarence Andrew Shelton III and Sharyl Shelton (Matecki) and left this world too soon on October 31st, 2023.
He married Carol Rosequist on December 31st, 2019 and they enjoyed traveling to Chicago together, with their pup Harley (Harlequin), to visit family.
Shawn's children were incredibly important to him and he loved them beyond compare. He rarely missed an event, game or competition for one of his kids. He was super involved in all of their sports and activities and loved cheering them on from the sidelines. He would work hours on end and then drive all night just to get them where they needed to be on time. He was lovingly referred to as the "cookie mom" for the Girl Scout Troop and there is no telling how many meals he prepared for the kids' events over the years.
Shawn was always there to lend a helping hand. He volunteered a lot of his time throughout the years to various organizations. He was involved in Scouts for Schools where he helped organize donations and distribute school supplies to thousands of children in Alabama. His efforts were so successful that he had enough school supplies to donate to a small town in Arkansas (Denning) that had also been hit by a tornado in 2011. Shawn spent 5 years as a volunteer coach for the Upwards Youth Soccer Program where he got to mentor children and share his love of the sport.
Not only did he help his own community, but after the devastation of hurricane Katrina, Shawn spent time down in Louisiana helping with the clean up and rebuilding efforts in those communities as well.
Shawn loved spending time in the kitchen and creating amazing dishes for his friends and family. He put his heart and soul into his creations, and for those that could wait long enough, they were never disappointed.
Shawn was always cracking jokes. His humor was golden and his laugh was infectious. You never knew what he was going to say but you can bet.. it was going to be funny.
Last but not least, he loved his Alabama Crimson Tide. Never missed watching a game and always took time to poke fun at the rest of the family when their teams lost.
Shawn will be more than just "greatly missed", his passing will leave a void in all of those that knew and loved him.
Shawn is preceded in death by his mother Sharyl Shelton (Matecki) and his father Clarence Andrew Shelton III.
He is survived by his daughters River (Lyndsey) Shelton and Hannah Shelton, sons Liam Shelton and Ryan Shelton, wife Carol Shelton, step daughter Amanda (Jesse) Hurley, and step sons Daniel (Julie) Williams and Michael (Taylor) Williams, brother Clarence Andrew Shelton IV (Shel), step mother Carolyn Shelton, granddaughter Arianna and grandson Carson along with a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held on November 25, 2023 at 11:00am at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, 7500 Roper Rd, Trussville, AL with Kent Montgomery officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Shawn's memory to the organization of your choice.
