Thomas Harold
Sexton
September 30, 1940 – January 25, 2025
Thomas "Harold" Sexton, 84, of Huntsville, Alabama, formerly of Liberty, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, in Huntsville.
Born on September 30, 1940, in Dacusville, South Carolina, Harold was one of fifteen children born to William and Ruth Sexton. He attended the South Carolina School for the Deaf in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Following his education, Harold returned home to help his mother support the family. He then pursued a career in construction, working as a skilled carpenter and general laborer.
On December 24, 1979, Harold married Patricia Ann McBride at her mother's home in Huntsville, Alabama. The couple resided in Huntsville for a short time before returning to his home state of South Carolina, settling in Liberty. They remained in Liberty until 2011. They moved to Anniston, Alabama where they resided a few years before deciding to move back to Huntsville to spend the rest of their days closer to family in 2015.
Harold was a talented "fix it" man and was always willing to help someone out. He loved old cars, fishing, and Clemson Football. He dressed as Santa Claus for the deaf children in South Carolina and for his great nephews. He loved all of his pets over the years, but especially Mousey and Abby.
Harold is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia Ann McBride Sexton, his son Michael and 3 grandchildren, 1 brother Brody Donald Sexton, and 2 sisters Cecil Council and Pauline Canon all of South Carolina, and an innumerable number of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Berryhill Funeral Home on Thursday, January 30 from 5 to 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Berryhill Funeral Home is honored to serve the Sexton family.
